The JPOG was founded in 1982 in order to provide a scientific forum for gynaecologists, psychiatrists and psychologists as well as for all those who are interested in the psychosocial and psychosomatic aspects of women’s health. The Academy of Psychosomatic Medicine has as its central focus patients with comorbid medical and psychiatric illness and the interaction between them. This focus entails clinical work, research and teaching as well as leadership in the provision of medical-surgical psychiatry services. Since its establishment in 1954, the Academy of Psychosomatic Medicine has served as a meeting ground for collaboration and exchange of knowledge and ideas in the arena of psychiatric medicine and consultation-liaison psychiatry. Among the objectives of the Academy are the advancement of scientific knowledge through study, clinical research and practice, and the furtherance of communication between medically related disciplines. The goal of the Academy's international membership is to ensure the highest standards of education, research, ethics and quality of patient care in the practice of psychosomatic medicine and consultation-liaison psychiatry.

The ISPOG has four major objectives. The main purpose of ISPOG is to join together groups and individuals in an international organization in order to attain the following objectives:
1. to promote the study of psychobiological and psychosocial, ethical and cross-cultural problems in the fields of obstetrics and gynaecology, women's health and reproductive health.
2. to promote education and training in the management of the problems mentioned under the previous paragraph.
3. to encourage the creation of national societies of psychosomatic obstetrics and gynaecology which will promote research, education and training on a national level.
4. to promote and facilitate the dissemination of new information in the fields mentioned before by organizing international congresses and through the official ISPOG publication.

Ci è stato cortesemente indicato dal Prof. Albert Diefenbacher dell'Università di Berlino, in una e-mail in cui esprimeva apprezzamento per il nostro sito.
Il Prof. Diefenbacher organizzerà il congresso dell'EACLPP del 2004. Gran parte del sito è dedicato alla presentazione e divulgazione del volume da lui curato: "Aktuelle Konsiliarpsychiatrie und psychotherapie".

La Clinica Psichiatrica di Udine si pone come obiettivo la diagnosi e il trattamento dei soggetti con disturbi psichiatrici, integrando in modo organico il sapere proveniente da tre aree scientifiche: medico-biologica, psicologica e socio-culturale. La formazione degli studenti di Medicina e Chirurgia alla psichiatria avviene di pari passo allo svolgimento dell'attività clinica, attraverso la esemplificazione di pratiche di intervento. La Scuola di Specializzazione in Psichiatria dell'Università di Udine si propone di formare specialisti in grado di sviluppare modalità di trattamento secondo i principi della Medicina basata sulle evidenze scientifiche riconosciute. La Clinica Psichiatrica si propone inoltre di sviluppare una cultura della conoscenza unitaria dell'individuo, organizzando convegni su diversi aspetti del rapporto tra psichiatria ed altre discipline mediche e stimolando progetti di intervento integrato medici e psichiatrici.

The Department of Psychiatry (Clinica Psichiatrica), established in 1970, the Department of Medical Psychology (Servizio di Psicologia Medica), established in 1980, and the Department of Psychotherapy (Servizio di Psicoterapia), established in 1992 , until December 1998 were part of the Institute of Psychiatry, University of Verona. From January 1999 they became Section of Psychiatry (which includes the Service of Psychiatry, the Service of Medical Psychology and the Service of Psychotherapy) of the Department of Medicine and Public Health. The Section of Psychiatry is sited in the University General Hospital of Verona. The activities include teaching and training, clinical work and research. Research is primarily focused on epidemiological studies in mental health. Studies in medical psychology includes the analysis of “Verbal interaction of doctor/patient consultation”. The main aim of this research is to develop and test a reliable procedure for measuring and classifying GPs’ style of communication during the medical interview.
